What would you pay for a decent but basic speaker cable?

I look at the wires inside my speakers coming off the crossover. Spending hundreds of dollars on cables only to see the end result going to cheap ass wire makes me wonder what people think they are hearing. So far, interconnects or speaker cables of any kind have not produced a single sonic difference for my ears or anybody else at my house who has listened to my system. I use non death grip directional Monsters. Better than plain Jane red/white cheapo cables but still I have difficulty hearing objectively any difference. I use them because I got them for next to nothing used. My speaker cables are Mogami, again free used. Really can't hear any difference from heavy guage lampcord. Then there is that nagging wire inside most speaker systems... just not in my best interests in imperceptible differences but others may feel they benefit so that's cool for their systems
 
The primary difference in speaker wire will be related to gauge, and the associated power loss in the cable. (This can also affect damping factor a bit, but likely not significant unless trying to use tinsel . . . )
