Playing a tape I whipped up pretty quick last night and this morning with Sugar Minott: Lovers Rock Inna Dancehall on one side and Augustus Pablo Presents Rockers Beat Street Dub on the other. Both mint original issue vinyl, recorded to a type I with no dolby for listening on a crappy boombox at work where that is actually the best sounding way to go as the extra treble with type IIs and/or dolby just sound tinny on the thing.

Both albums are from the digital reggae days in the 80s and for me are solid examples showing that despite what some say, digital dub can be done right to great effect. The dubs following the Sugar Minott Vocals are all very good and the Pablo album is top notch for me.

Supertramp - Indelibly Stamped (1971) - CD

First listen for me, brilliant

Derek: I do have that on vinyl. It's such different music from Supertramp you would never had thought that "Crime Of The Century" was next to come. Like you, I found it enjoyable. With some of the super-groups, the earlier stuff, which didn't get as much airplay, are the hidden gems. Fleetwood Mac is another group which had some good music early on in their musical career. It just wasn't as popular.

Supertramp - Crisis? What Crisis? (1975) - Thorens TD 160 Super to PC 24/96

I find that with the CD copy of this I'm always turning the bass up, the vinyl sounds beautiful played flat. I'm not sure if the CD is a remaster or what, but they tend to boost the treble to epic proportions on some CD copies.
