what are you listening to?

Just finished watching "The Runaways" on Starz, so:

Joan Jett & the Blackhearts - Up Your Alley

Great album! I remember anxiously waiting to buy it the day it was released. I played both sides over and over that night. It was a much stronger and more consistant album than her previous one ("Good Music"). I saw "The Runaways" movie at the theater when it came out. While not exactly factually accurate I thought it was a fairly good movie. The actresses playing Joan and Cherrie did a very good job. The guy who played Kim Fowley was good but didn't really capture the essence of Kim for me. To see Kim in his full glory check out either of these documentaries, "The Mayor Of The Sunset Strip" and "Edgeplay". As you can tell I am a longtime fan of The Runaways (esp. Joan). What were your thoughts on the movie?

Checking out some of the new Phil Spector reissues...

The Ronettes-"Be My Baby: The Very Best Of..." 2011 Phil Spector/Legacy Records cd
Darlene Love-"The Sound Of Love: The Very Best Of..." 2011 Phil Spector/Legacy Records cd

I thought the movie was entertaining and the casting wasn't bad at all, but I haven't seen the documentaries on Kim, which I will, thanks for the suggestions.
I am also a long time fan of Joan, got to see her at a show in SoHo NYC around 1981, when there where some great clubs there. I use to work as a photographer in the 80's in NYC and got to see quite a few gigs, press passes go a long way. I am also a huge Lita Ford fan, fox with an axe.

The Mag Seven ~ The future is ours, if you can count
2006

The 2 documentaries I mentioned weren't about Kim but he's featured prominately (and gives an entertaining interview). "Mayor" is about L.A. d.j. Rodney Bingenheimer and "Edgeplay" is about The Runaways.

The Crystals-"Da Doo Ron Ron: The Very Best Of..." 2011 Phil Spector Records cd
Brenda Lee-"10 Golden Years" 1966 Decca Records lp

...P.S. I've only seen Joan live once. She was the opening act for Robert Plant's "Now + Zen" tour. I'm thinking that was 1988.

Marty Robbins-"Long, Long Ago" 1984 Columbia Records lp

...Nice 2 lp set of 1960's era material.
