what are you listening to?

Get a load of this track from The King on a mix tape I recently received from a friend:

COULDN"T KEEP STILL!!!! Good stuff Nando!! That's rock and roll!!! That would probably pin the ears back on the horns!!

Thanks guys! Am I in the Dark Ages? How come I haven't heard of The King, before now?

Here's another mix featuring my favorite singer doing it live at The House Of Blues.

Never heard of the "King" myself either Nando.

Dig the fluoroscan peak indicators!!

Nando's stuff made me get out some old favorites---Rare Earth -"Ma"

I had trouble balancing the PL-115D so the MCS6600 stepped up to the plate...

I played the 45 of Mirror Man by Human League, the title and second cuts of The Age Of Aquarius and Side 1 of a Capitol Records 25th anniversary LP. Kay Starr's Wheel Of Fortune just ended and Nat King Cole started.

My SVHS JVC HR-6800U promptly ate one of the two-tape KISS the Second Coming.

I know I'll be be bummed if it's the tape with Ace's photo shoot with tigers and topless inflated porn boobs.

Not cool.

Is that just a local transmission Paul??

This is from a St Louis radio station I used to listen to growing up in MO, 94.7 KSHE 95. It the oldest, continuous rock and roll format station west of the Mississippi. Started in '67 iirc and was one of the coolest stations around until the mid 80's when they were bought out. Prior to that they were privately owned and ran out of a converted house in Crestwood Mo, a St. Louis 'burb. They would play entire albums, and were always on the cutting edge or rock and progressive rock.

On Sundays they play what are known as the KSHE KLASSIC's (partial list here http://www.classicsshow.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; )

I always found it a great way to easy into Sunday morning. Since I moved from StL I've streamed it on the net and enjoyed the show. Check it out Some Sunday morning at http://www.kshe95.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; from 6am-10am PST with a bonus hour they've been running programmed by a different, prominent StL local each week. Right now they are actually in the midst of doing an A-Z of all the KSHE Klassic's. Very interesting stuff. In the L's right now.

Thanks Rex. The Zoo in Dallas use to play albums all day with no commercials during the playing. Just between. They would tell you when to hit play to record. Was some great music.

My oldest son, Matt, dropped by for a visit this evening toting his Techinics SL-1200MK2 under his arm. He wanted me to give it a try. I hooked it up to my bedroom system, which is a piece of cake to swap in a deck or a couple of turntables into my Gemini PMX-2001 Preamp/Mixer/Equalizer. The TT is outfitted with a Shure M44-7G cartridge. It's a great combination. Too bad this model of Technics turntable recently ceased production. Thought we would listen to some classic Heart.

Just cracked a frosty cold one after work, and I'm enjoying some great classic rock tunes recorded onto a Maxell XL II 90 cassette. This recording was done by a friend, and I owe him a rock mix tape in exchange. This will get your juices flowing!
