SRV On Pre-recorded Cassette

Pulled the Marantz SD-9000 out of storage, as in a couple of weeks I plan to do a mix tape exchange with a recording done at 2X-speed or 3.75 i.p.s.. The likely deck to use would be my Teac C-3X, as the Marantz has no tape calibration, bias fine tuning - just tape type selector.

And a cell phone video:

All those buttons and no tape calibration? Interesting...

Pretty deck, though.

Impressive bass line capture ... from a mobile device. The entire spectrum is good tbh albeit curved, but I was taken by the low end for sure.

Put the single drivers back in the system the other day and took a good listen tonight. No active crossover. Started with some John Mellencamp - the drum mix on the Pink Houses album is revelatory on these things. The power of the drum kit on Crumblin' Down - and the air that was captured (or added as reverb?) - sat me back on the couch. This from digitized vinyl at 24/192.
