what are you listening to?

One other thing I like is that it clamps down on the on-off switch pop on the turntable. While the turn-on pop volume is pretty low, the turn-off pop is pretty obnoxious - and particularly well tamed. Almost worth the price of admission for that feature alone.

Led Zeppelin's Celebration Day Live

I am getting older - the band was older - but it sure feels good to hear them many years later when the band reunited. And still do it as well as when they first released Kashmir:

OK with over 350 CDs new to me to listen to, Tom’s favorites, I’m also employing the CDC in the bedroom but usually listen to Echoes on XPN or streamed on WUOT-2, WEXT or if I can’t sleep, the Alaska public radio stations that play it even later at night.

But I pulled the Back to Mine collection about 17 discs, out and have just replaced these five after first listen
Danny Tenaglia
Carl Cox
Faithless
Talvin Singh
The Orb

These BtM discs are said to be “A personal collection for after hours grooving” and are compilations of other’s work with maybe a tune or two by the artist mentioned. The Carl Cox started with Ramsey Lewis and then Diana Ross before adding artists I’ve seen in Tom’s collection. These are interesting with lots of cross pollination as I learn more about 1990s-2010 music a bit off the pop charts.

The five artists BtM discs loaded now are:
Dave Seaman
Nick Warren
Everything But the Girl
Lamb and
Adam Freeland

Since I’m restoring a 2270 I’m able to listen to the main collection less this series during the day so should have more to report tomorrow from the main rig. Probably take me a few days to hear all 5 of these discs cause sleeping through them isn’t gonna let me rate them, my goal in all this.

With the discs rated I can quarantine the ones I don’t like and revisit the ones I do. I had to stop listening to ‘five more I’ve never heard’ during the first 900 discs Tom sent that I went through. I pulled out 5 highly rated new ones and cranked tunes for a couple days. That group included Etherwood and Infected Mushroom. Sometimes you don’t want to explote more but enjoy some new music you know you like.

The newly minted WOPL 400S2 is getting burned in properly.

Started with the old standby test > Steely Dan - Aja
Followed by > Miss Molly and The Whips (Texas Blues/Rock)
And punish speakers/family/neighbors > Tool - Fear Inoculum @laatsch55

Good test tunes.
Add some Shpongle and Infected Mushroom and an occasional Crystal Method --"Vegas"
