what are you listening to?

Picked up the Thelonious Monk/John Coltrane CD along with a couple of pieces of vinyl - a QRP pressing of Shelby Lynne's Just A Little Lovin' and Kris Kristofferson's Me and Bobby McGee while taking a couple of the actors who were with us all week on campus to some record stores. Over paid for the Kristofferson (damn fluorescent lights) but the Shelby Lynne is in pretty good shape.

Haven't had time to listen except for the Monk/Coltrane CD yesterday morning before heading back for a final show in the theater. Needle dropped the vinyl to see what I had. Gonna try to listen tonight after my grand daughter's basketball game if I have the energy. We had a great week and it may have been one of the - if not the- most important shows I've brought to campus but the week long residency with three performances was exhausting. Plus I've had the stomach bug on and off since Friday.

This Shelby Lynne disk may be enough to get me off the fence about getting one of those Pro-Ject Vinyl Click-and-Pop boxes (https://www.audioadvisor.com/prvnrsbs3-blk?sku=NEW-PRVNRSBS3-BLK).

Great scores all around.
I love the early Dusty Springfield music, and Shelby Lynne does a fantastic job with her covers of Dusty’s music on that album.
You will really enjoy that album. Thelonious and Coltrane…well, you can’t go wrong there anytime. :)

Yeah man, a great album. Heard it the first time on 8 track in a friend's 69 Ford LTD.
Went right out and bought the album.
Listening to Zeppelin 4 right now.
Stair Way To Heaven is finishing.
Time to walk the dog. He's staring at me. Later y'all.

I have a bunch of CDs loaded in work. One of the sprayers was having trouble and came up to my office and commented on Miles that happened to be on…

Most of the really good stuff is on vinyl and I get far too little time to listen to it. Any vinyl I buy now is old 50’s-60’s jazz and hard bop. I don’t waste time on “classic rock” on vinyl.

QRP-pressed. Sounds great but for a couple of big pops in the first track. Can't figure out how she's not a much bigger artist than she is; this album is spectacular, as is that duo album with her sister, Allison Moorer, Not Dark Yet.

Gonna see how the $400 Pro-Ject Vinyl NRS box handles those pops. The shipping ticket alleges it will be here Thursday. Report to follow. That Kris Kristofferson album in the lower right corner is in worse shape and should offer more of a test. I might make a 24/192 copy of that and send raw copies to BlazES and Nando to run through their Sugar Cubes to compare. Not that it's a real comparison, the Sugar Cube remains as unobtanium but it should be the reference for what can be done.

Bob,
Looking forward to your opinion on the Pro-Ject Vinyl NRS unit.
The technology continues to evolve and noise reduction for us vinyl lovers is a wonderful development.
I have a lot of classical vinyl, and that is where the pops and clicks are the worst.
Enjoy that Shelby Lynne album, it's a great recording.
