These before I pack them up and send them to their new homes. These are Vietnam War era GI records. The Beatles is a cool obscurity, actually they all are sort of obscure as not many were pressed. Sort of on demand depending what was popular at the moment

Yep, Ron it seems like lots of these were brought back by Vietnam era military. Kind of cool and collectible especially as memorabilia for veterans but they are essentially unlicensed knockoffs, pressed on demand, sold on the streets. We see a lot of them here with lots of active military bases in the Puget Sound area in that era. Taiwanese counterfeits, most likely they were dubbed from legit records and pressed with poor quality vinyl in some shady Hong Kong plant. Lots of the labels and covers have typos, etc. I have a bunch of these that were stuck in boxes in collections I purchased, and the ones that I've heard are about what you'd expect for sound quality, thin and noisy. I try to let people know that they aren't legit imports and the SQ is pretty bad, have heard some may be pressed radio recordings. Here are a few of the ones I have...

Yeah, I saw a MFSL version of Waiting For Columbus in the bins last week. That's pretty impressive for a live album to get the MFSL treatment, but WFC is certainly one of the best regarded and best recorded live LPs.

Did you leave it in the bins???

Very good ? Lee. What was the price tag on that? And I have a skynyrd flames cover street survivors that one of them Taiwan presses in a flimsy jacket. Cool collectors item though!

listening to ry cooder boomers story. Cd tonight as I'm to busy to flip the awesome lp I got from SLF!
