John Hartford - The Love Album
(1968, RCA)

I don't have a couple of Hartford's early LPs, and today I run across this one in an antique mall on the way home from work. His usual wise beyond years lyrics accompanied by banjo with a focus on relationships - much of it sounds like an expansion of his Gentle On My Mind masterpiece.

The Band - Cahoots
(1971, Capitol)

includes Life Is A Carnival - which is good to hear heading into a holiday weekend - and a nice cover of Dylan's When I Paint My Masterpiece - always reminds me how much fun it was to explore the streets of Rome on a visit with family a few years ago

Samantha Fish is a new one for me. Thanks for the lead, Lee. Bought a couple of new CDs, including the latest from my favourite Canadian band The Tragically Hip. Yesterday was our country's 149th birthday. So, part of the Canada Day celebration was playing some Canadian tunes along with some beer.
