John Coltrane~ Blue Train
First was the Analogue Productions 45 RPM stereo pressing and the second being the Music Matters 180 mono pressing. Both are great but I liked the MM mono pressing so much, I bought a backup copy of it.....

Justin Timberlake~ The 20/ 20 Experience

J Mascis~ Tied to a Star

Crosby/Nash - Live
(1977, ABC)

Listening to side one with Immigation Man - back home after a couple of weeks in France & Switzerland. A long travel day yesterday and a fair amount of time with the immigation man at Kloten/Schipol/SeaTac. 12 hours of sleep and an extra day off work should help kick the jet lag. Nash's book is in my to-read stack.

The Beatles - Revolver
(1966, Parlophone) MONO 2014 release

I watched a documentary on the flight home - about The Beatles' secretary. A lot of fun.

Here's an update:

I always enjoyed listening to Simon & Garfunkel cover, 'America' from the 'Yesterdays' compilation back in the day [sounds like old-man speak, I know...]
Steve Wilson included this song on this release because it is time-relevant.
Sounds really nice. All kinds of depth and dynamic presence that wasn't there before.
Wilson brought the life back to this track and it meshes with the regular album arrangement perfectly.

Yes 'Close to the Edge' - Steve Wilson commissioned 2013 Remix/Remaster CD + Bluray Edition

Sampling the CD now. Sounds fantastic. Sounds different in this 2-channel presentation with amazing presence/ambiance.
There's what is called an "LP drop" on the Bluray disk, where there is a PCM capture of an actual UK vinyl pressing. Haven't listened to that yet and
not quite sure what type of "treatment" is given to that particular recording but I'll post up a more thorough accounting of my impressions once I've digested this release.
It will be interesting to see if it's completely de-clicked or only a little bit.

For some reason 'Fragile' hasn't been done yet but 'The Yes Album' has.
'Relayer' gets the same Steve Wilson mastery come November.
Can't wait !

Death Cab for Cutie
Codes and Keys

Codes and Keys.jpg

If you don't know Death Cab for Cutie then this is the absolute, first album
of theirs you should be listening to on your quest to learn who they are.
It's the complete package and the writing & arrangement is top shelf.
'Plans' is a close second and has more popular tracks,
but 'Codes' demonstrates their mastery ...

Codes is my fav, too. Trasatlanticism is another I would like to pick up on vinyl down the road.

Led Zeppelin III

The AT440MLa has made a huge difference in sound, no inner groove distortion at all, crystal clear highs and deep warm lows. Couldn't be happier with it.
