what are you listening to?

Lots of great performances on those old The Midnight Special or PBS Soundstage videos.
Also been watching many of the Rockplast shows from Germany.
Happy watching y'all, and a good reason to integrate video into your system, along with multiple amps.
I know Gene sure enjoys his!!!

Starting the day with some Hard Bop:

John Coltrane – 1960 – Giant Steps
Original Stereo – First Pressing – February 1960
Atlantic SD – 1311
This is a classic Coltrane album. If you have never heard Coltrane play “Giant Steps” it is truly a masterpiece. 26 cord changes in 16 bars !!! (10 key changes). Sounds as if he has 3 hands to make a tenor sax sound like that !!! Many studio musicians have seen the written music and said that it could not be done….but Coltrane plays this flawlessly….it blows me away every time I listen to it.

Wayne Shorter – Speak No Evil
First Released in 1966
Blue Note LT - 84194
Remaster – Classic Vinyl Series
Mastered from the original analogue tapes by Kevin Gray at Cohearent Audio and pressed at Optimal in Germany on 180 gram audiophile vinyl. This is an original Van Gelder recording. This is a great pressing.

This one’s for Lee (and Gene :) )
This album kicks ass…plain and simple.
I always warm up the WOPL 700b before I play this album…..it is an experience.
Extremely well engineered and the pressing is superb. Some of the earlier TOOL
Albums are not well done, but if you play them loud enough you don’t notice. This
one is first class. I like it so much that I have the CD set as well !
You don’t listen to this, you experience it!
