Welcome Pure_Brew !!!

It's not the definition, it's the execution I'm curious about.

Also, are the quantities available on the site actual?

Welcome to the forum.... Glad to see that you are fitting right in.

Nice photos..... Looks like Nando could have some competition.

Robert

Hey thanks Robert. I dunno about competition though lol, it's all fun and those are my only 2 Pioneer pieces.

Larry- good to know about the tapes available. I'll want to order a couple this week. Whats the difference between the blue and red?

I'm honestly impressed by the NOS BASF tapes I picked up. Very WOW quiet background nice sound! If the Pheonix tapes are this good then I'll be pleased.

Joe

The Blues are BASF Super Chromes. The Reds are SKC. Yes Joel still has tapes. I have a TDK chrome that is going to be passed around.I have to finish taping on it. If you want to get in on it.

Joe: Isn't that coincidental - those BASF Chrome SuperIIs might be just what the dr. ordered. You'll find out later.

Nando.

Ooooo that is very coincidental! Now I see.

Larry-are you passing the tape for audition?

Yes to get people opinion of it.I have been trying to get these TDKs for 2 years now. So yes it is for people to test.

Larry

That sounds cool.

Although if I bugger up this deck trying to fix it, I won't be able to play any tapes at all.
=(

:evil4: :evil4: Joe said Bugger :evil4: :evil4: Yeah, you'll fit right in allright, Bloody, buggery, Bollocks :laughing8: :laughing8:

I'm from the get the best tapes you can, and don't use Dolby at all camp, two of my decks have Dolby S, which is by far the best Dolby system out there. I only use it on classical recordings that have lot's of quiet passages, or Lps that have an insane amount of surface noise.

Even on those I hate the the dulling of transient leading edges, and how it makes the upper treble sound. Maybe you should hold off on the repairs untill you get the TDK being passed around? Or maybe we could enable you into getting another deck? Or two, or three? You can never have too many :evil4: :evil4:

Guess I better finish recording.LOL get her ready here it comes. Some hard music in my view to reproduce.LOL Erase it and put yours on it. Abuse this tape.

Larry

The money it is going to cost me. Push it very hard. I'm listening to some jazz I did yesterday. Very warm tape. Not bright at all. Run the peaks till you think they will distort.

Larry

Interesting Zepplin. My noise levels are not as good as yours are apparently, maybe when and if I get that yamaha k-1020 up and running it will do better them my 9191. The 9191 recording makes me want to use tone controls to turn treble down a notch and bass up a bit. The playback seems good. I'm running flat with this test tape as it is pretty soft. Are you using any tubes to drive the input?

Also, it looks like there is a " little extra" in the package that I wasnt expecting!
Thank You!
Joe

My CDP is tubed. Did I do the Jazz on the one side. Plus on this recording I went through a Perpetual Tech. Dac and Anti-jitter. Your welcome.

Larry

Just flipped it near the end, bohnam soloing. Now Acoustic guitar. Elizabethtown?
Seems weird to ruin this recording lol. What deck did you use to make this? Does it have any subtle flutter?

No flutter. The deck is a Yamaha KX-580 SE. That is Nancy Wilson " Baby Guitars " I have never had a deck that had flutter. Wait for the Mandolins.

Larry

Ah. Nancy Wilson also does elizabethtown, I believe a soundtrack. Maybe there is some over drive of signal then for test? I tried driving the he'll out of this tape, up, up and up some more. There is not as much to notice on electronica, but acoustic guitar sounds rancid when I over drive. This pioneer has an optional record limiter switch which I just tried for the first time. It works. Not the best thing but I guess that's compression for ya. I've been rewinding an re- recording over the first minute or 2 of this tape and I think this tape sounds really smooth.
