If this is the real deal, John, have we got some questions for you!!

Welcome to Phoenix !! Have fun, we do!!

I'm not sure what you mean by "the real deal," but I assure you I am the real John Robison. I'm not somebody pretending to be me, if that's what you mean.

After working in audio with rock and roll bands I went on to do sound effects in games for Milton Bradley and others, and I did high power electronics for military and commercial users. My last job in electronics was as general manager of power systems at Candela, a company that made medical and military lasers. In that job, my power supply group designed and build pulse power supplies for military and scientific customers that went as high as 50,000 watts/second of pulsed output. Way more that these amps! That kind of power, concentrated in a few microseconds of laser blast and repeated a few thousand times, vaporized crucibles of fissionable material, and punched holes in hardened objects.

A few years later, I became disillusioned with electronics and started a business restoring cars in Springfield, MA, and I'm still here today.

But my son and ex-wife continue our musical tradition. They are actually overhauling or restoring some of the original KISS guitars right now, and we build a few custom instruments. If I can see how to post photos I will show you guys some

glad you found the site. its always a treat when folks who've played a part in the history of audio share their experiences.

Please take no offense John, we've had a guy register as Bill Gates.....

This was me in '79, me today, and my son holding one of the original light guitars I created for KISS. We have them back for refurbishing now, 30-some years later. I'm proud to have the next generation at work on them. I will see if I have photos of us with the Pink Floyd stuff

DSC_8307.jpgDSC_7815.jpgDSC_7776.jpgDSC_7747.jpgNowadays though I don't do sound engineering I do still photograph musicians, many of whom I did shows with "back in the day." Some of you may remember Eddie Holman and Hey There Lonely Girl, a huge hit in the 70s. Here's Eddie and the backup band singing that song today . . . .

John, you look way familiar, you ever do any oilfield work?? If not you have a doppelganger running around somewhere.

Used to work for DEC over in Westfield - lived in Chicopee and Holyoak. My brother still lives up there in the hills and works for Kmax down in Hartford. I'm allergic to places that are snowy and cold so I got the blazes outta there and moved to California and currently living near Nashville.

It's good to see ya here!!! :D

ps - Don't let KISS know about blowing stuff up with lasers - they will want you to get them a couple of 'em....
