Steven, I have a CT-F600, well technically it's my wife's deck. She had it when we met, and I thought, "Oh, a woman with a real stereo..." Anyway, it's fine except for that pesky click...click...click problem. I'll see if she cares to part with it.
I have a Pioneer CT-F950, not sure if I am going to sell or hang on to it. The last time I had it out if worked fine. Of course we all know how old these decks are and the belts and idlers give out eventually.
Let me drag it out this weekend and see how it works and think about it. If it still works it is probably my only silver faced working deck from Pioneer.
Yes, I inspected the innards when I rebelted it a few weeks back, but only caught the clicking later. My wife said, "Give it to Steve - get rid of it." So, let me know, per the usual terms: shipping plus $15. Let me know if you want it.
I have a CT-F900 with cracked glass, chipped wood, and a missing bias knob. It is perfect, except it isn't on your list. If you give up on finding a 950, this deck would be a compromise.
My 1000 is the only one of those besides the CT-3000 you sold me working at the moment (the one Freddy helped me buy is trying to eat tapes). The only Pioneers I own that even HAVE wood panels or a full wooden lid are two 7272s(?) and a 2121. I have a 900 courtesy of Eminence that powers and has all the knobs but needs belts or something as he said. If I tackled the rebelting thing I'd be rolling...as it goes I'm STILL trying to figure out how to get the left side drive of my later TASCAM 202 devoid of the cassette in there without taking the entire face off and removing the drive.
Ironically, that will probably work fine when I transfer a drive over to my CT-W500 from a *...I only recall that it's the same style drive.
You may have noticed I am addicted to cassette decks.
Steven,
I'll sell the 900 to you for $25 plus shipping, which is about $30. It is missing the bias knob. One corner of the display plastic is cracked but the piece is still there. Fl display is ok. I am sure it needs belt and an idler tire. The fake wood cabinet is missing veneers on one of the ends.
It is very similar to the 950, but IIRC there were mechanical issues that Pioneer addressed by replacing the entire mechanism. You might search Njord's Pioneer data base and see if you can find it. I don't remember what failed or how likely the 900 is to fail. I've kept the deck because it has good heads and motors and never had plans to fix it up.
