Do you remember what was driving them.

It was the Classe Audio amplifier you can see in one of the previous photos.

Nando.

My bases are different. Nice amp. I just talked to Vandersteen. You made me think a bit. I needed to order a few things. LOL

Was listening last night. May look for a smaller set of B&Ws. May get two sheets and fill with accu-fil. Have to see what I can do to keep the sound from bouncing. Don't know if listening to the server makes the tweeters to pronounced or not. When I go to the CDPs it is alot mellower. I have wreaked havoc on my ears though. Jet engines are not good. LOL Get a pair of funky twin sheets and fill them. We shall see if I can fix it cheaper than buying another pair of speakers.

I want to like these speakers so bad. The next purchase will not be cheap. Talked to Danny. He is designing 2 pair of OBs that will be out in a couple of months.

Well the tweeters were tamed. I am very happy. I'm like a kid with a new toy. I keep thinking I could just keep the Cary system in here. Then I think. Nah I have to put the Vandys in a proper room. Some pretty good jams. These Flexarils are sort of kicking my butt. LOL I am so happy. I know there are better systems. More expensive for sure. Visiting my friends in Ozone Alley.

Still one of my top three favorite commercially made speakers of all time. Great cost/value ratio (especially used), fairly high WAF, fantastic sound when placed properly, including the ability to get quite deep, which I like. Vandersteen was the first builder to make what I perceive as a strong argument for bi-amp/bi-wire, and from my own listening experiences with them I think it does make a difference (none of the 2 series, as far as I know, even have provisions for single wire capability! Richard Vandersteen obviously believes his own opinion too!)

You have to give them something on the back side for the passive woofer to bounce off of. Not that efficient. Not many that are designed today are.
