I knew it would be only a matter of time before I got my hands on a White Oaked Phase Linear amplifier.
This beast is over 200 watts RMS per channel.
The highest power amplifier I've got at the moment is a 100W+100W bridge amplifier running off a 27.6V DC (or 34 volts without clipping) power supply into 4 ohm speakers or 2 pairs of 8 ohm speakers in parallel.
I will have to wait until my new garage / workshop is built before I can run the WOPL amplifier to it's maximum power level.
EDIT: 120V AC power supply won't be an issue. I don't have any shortage of step down transformers and auto transformers with a suitable power rating to run this WOPL amplifier off a 240V AC mains supply.
That sounds exciting Chris - the modified PL 400 should be a very nice addition to your collection. I hope it makes it as one of your main systems to listen to.
For many years my unmodified PL 400 has been the main amp in my house but it has only gotten better with the addition of a WO controller board and a future upgrade to a fully complementary amplifier should bump up the performance a notch or three.

Performance, reliability and sound quality are very important to me. There were some issues with the early 1970s Phase Linear circuit design. I'm pleased that these have been remedied by White Oak Audio design improvements and modifications using only the very best quality electronic components available.
I've been making good progress with shipping inquiries.
When you get it hooked up let us know how it sounds. Hopefully it made the long trip in good condition. Does the transformer magnetic field change direction down under?
I've just had a look inside and I can clearly see that a lot of work and new top quality electronic components has gone into the upgrades:
> Four new titanium faceplate bolts.
> Two new 12,000uF 100 volt electrolytic capacitors with screw terminal adaptors in the power supply section.
> 16 new complimentary NPN / PNP output transistors. MJ21193G / MJ21194G
> Two new backplane boards with new flame proof metal oxide 0.22 ohm emitter resistors.
> A new DC protect relay board.
> New driver and control board - almost all resistors 1% metal film - no ceramic capacitors.
> A new meter light board. http://forums.phxaudiotape.com/show...se-Linear-400-Series-1-Revision-B-Light-Board
