Well as tempted as I was to find some AA equipment to supplement my CD Player arsenal, I decided to go with a Tube Cd player to route through my tube amp. So far it has handled everything I have thrown at it and sounds great to boot. Listening to it through the tube outputs through my tube amp and into the Klipsch KG 5.5's with horns is a real joy.

Yes I could still route this thing through an external Dac but I think it sounds plenty good the way it is.

Here are a few crappy pics and I have yet to put it in my stereo rack.

Larry it is uses 6N8P tubes. I haven't tried it yet with an outboard Dac, but it sounds very very nice the way it is.

Here are a few of it's features.

Sanyo laser JQ24-35H440A head pickup with a Phillips SAA7824 servo system. The digital Burr Brown DAC PCM1732U HDCD decoder, 192 KHz/24bit up-sampling is accomplished by SRC4193.

Two 6N8P twin triodes operate as tube voltage amplifier. The power transformer is manufactured with Japanese silicon steel sheet and oxygen-free enameled copper and high quality lacquer, in this way offering a wide dynamic range at full rated output.

MKP audiophile capacitors and high quality metal precision resistors dedicated for audio frequency are utilized.

Heavy duty chassis consists of aluminum and stainless steel elements with perfect surface finishing assembled in best craftsmanship.

Dual stereo outputs either from tubes and solid state.

Remote control - infrared.

I pulled it up this morning and looked at it. The Chinese are getting good at the tube game.I listened to my Shanling this morning. It sounds so good. I'm glad you like it.

You are seeing it correctly Stuwee. The left side is the transformer and tubes and electronics and the right side is a computer cd drive dressed in silver and chrome. The controls are on top of the left side and the power switch in on the right hand side near the rear of the unit. The remote control is made from a hollowed out piece off heavy aluminum. The only thing I can nit pick so far is the remote's button lay out, probably designed by someone who didn't even know what the buttons did Lol.

They give you a hex wrench to take the tube guard off when you want to roll the tubes. It is also a nice touch that they put both tube and solid state outputs on the rear panel. I have them both hooked up to my tube amp so I can A/B the output to compare the tubed outs with the SS outs. The difference is very subtle but so far I am liking the tube outputs.

The fit and finish are pretty nice and the price in my estimation is good too. I bought it from a Canadian Ebay seller, who imports the units and runs them to make sure they are working properly. I could have saved about $50 by buying direct from China, but if something goes wrong it costs about $250 to ship to China, while the Canadian firm will do warranty work and it would only cost $50 to ship to Canada.

You did good. The one you bought from me that was messed up came from China. Will this one play HDCDs? I have been reading about upsampling. If I get the jest of it. The upsampling is more for the compression they use in the recording of the CDs. I forget where I read it; but they said less is better sound quality. I'll have to find the link. I'm glad someone is giving Ian at Grant Fidelity a run for his money. All he is doing is rebadging Yaqin. It will take about 50 hours to burn in the tubes. If it were me I would take off the tube guards and let air get to the tubes. Heat isn't a tubes best friend. Just some advice. Try your DAC on it though and see. It made mine better. When you want to get some tubes let me know. I saved Jerry some money on his caps. I have a couple of sources I can go to. I did pay big bucks for the Sovtec i got that was made in 99 though.

Larry, yes it will play HDCD's. I have put my hand over the tubes and they are barely putting out any heat at all so that is a good thing. I am going to break it in for awhile and then I will try the DAC.

I bought it from a guy in Toronto, it was a little over $500 so I didn't see how I could go wrong. The Dac I bought is the same one GF is selling and they wanted $215 and I got mine straight from China for $165 with free shipping.

There are some tubes out there; but what I have read those are pretty good. That number is only made in China. So I have been doing some research. I'll leave my GF comment alone. I won't go there. LOL

I have a question: Is the brand AOIN or AION? I can't find any reference of a "AOIN" brand and the photo shows that brand :?:
Thanks
