its filthy dirty but its all there, and for one dollar how could i say no? it was actually 99 cents. $1.05 after taxes.. *grin*

and a very early marantz cd player from the mid 1980s, for $6.95, works!

but of all the crap i dragged home today, this was the dimepiece, a $4.00 hitachi ps-33 turntable!

everything about this thing is quality! suprisingly nice from such a crap brand!

another friend at work gave me this horrible pos today. i would never buy one but for free what the hell. no idea what im gunna do with it yet. probubly just gunna rape parts from it and use the case as firewood. *grin* this was pretty much right at the cusp of BPC, from the early 80s, i guess. it weighs nothing, everything has a cheap feel to it. the cassette player is broken, and the TT dosent spin. oh yeah, and its made in china. *grin*

big screaming 2 watts per channel. and since its a 4 way, and can play "everything" from its era, they didnt think of putting a AUX hookup on it.
so there really is nothing i can do with it. just figured id share this horrible piece of garb
age with you guys. *grin*

testing and conclusion..

intresting illuminated transport on the marantz cd player with a big clear window.

but will it work? and with burned cds? drumroll.....

tech8033.jpg

you bet! it loads and scans fast! works like a charm!

as much as i hate BPC, ive always had a soft spot for early cd players. not only for historic purpouses, but for there quirkey designs and odd features. with the see threw windows and what not. cause it was new technology back then.

the hitachi turntable is a class act! it has a beautiful tone arm and platter. a decent shure cartrige and styli that looks unused. i played both sides of the moody blues days of our future passed and it didnt miss a beat! its very well made and feels like it could last forever in its beautiful cherry wood plinth.
