The K-Horns are coming ! The K-Horns are coming !!!!

The front of the woofer fires through a 3 X 13 inch hole and goes out and around. The back of the woofer is sealed in its little box. The Speaker lab cab is slightly larger. I don't know if it sounds any different....and what is a tuning frequency?

This guy is trying to figure it out....

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VBYwlIVNBpM

The helmholtz resonant frequency of a box. Also refers to the resonant frequency of other types of systems.

How low will she go, and how flat is the response....is the enclosure the proper size for the driver?

and no, Kevin is still working on the enclosure........

So, Lee.....

What is the difference in Klipsch Cornerhorn cabinets, and the SpeakerLab cabinet? Do they have the same tuning frequency? The same internal volume? What are the differences? Is one "better" than the other?

I still am shaking my head trying to figure out how a big woofer mounted in an airtight box works...The front wave and the back wave are both, apparently sealed in a cabinet. What am I missing here?

Hi Sutton, I know the feeling. It took me awhile to rap my head around these horn also if you read my early posts.
Here is a drawing of a Speakerlab Khorn.
It kinda shows the flow. Hope it helps.
Nice job on the veneer buddy.

So, at some point, the air DOES escape the cabinet? It IS a folded horn, right? I have built a folded horn and transmission line speaker cabinet before...and "kind of" understand them. I just couldn't determine where or if these cabinets had an apex or mouth...but I think they have to have...yeah....pretty confusing technology....and to think it's 70 years old .... just amazing..

Does anyone know where there are any KHorn cabinets? or Speakerlab cabinets? Is anyone building them ??? I think I am going to abandon the La Scalas and just go for the KHorns... I like the idea of bass into the 30's..........................

You have a set of plans.....they even have pictures....look at them...

I know they aren't. I just can't figure out HOW they work......I do know building them is out of my league. After looking at the plans you sent me, I know I could never build them. I am NO master carpenter. I wonder how much a cabinet maker would charge for a pair.

I found a pair in Seattle, but I don't know anyone there to ship them to me..

Hmmm... well you know, "Jer Senior" is not that far from you, actually.. Franklin WV, to be exact. With the rosewood kitchen cabinets and furniture I remember him building 30 something years ago (and that was when he wasn't doing that kind of stuff full time), bet he can do it. Let me send him an email... :glasses1: Might go for a pair myself... :thumbleft:

Lee can you email me the plans? I want to show my dad. He's a woodworker . I want him to look at them.

I forgot about the little legs I found to keep them from scratching the floor

I'll mail you a set. Don't have Em on pdf..

Do you have a scanner or a multifunction printer? If not I could scan them or I'm thinking that someone else that has a set can do the same.

Damn - now we're going to have more than one person with WOPL amps and K-Horns. God help us!

Jer,

I'm in on the woodworking and producing two pair of these SpeakerLab K's. I am going to have to have a pair now, and I've not even heard them yet. Just based on what Kev has told me about Lee's and their sound...

Gotta have a pair...

There's enough folks that want the plans I'll scan and email them..
