You could be right too Orangster, but if you look again at the pics of the wires here, dsl-modem-t918.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; , I'm not so keen on having this old house redone, I'll wait till the next big storm and see if that's it, then I'll check other options, then the wiring.
If your house wiring is skanky. either you have an existing wire maintenance plan or a capable friednd can help you.

The majority of wiring woes tend to be OUTSIDE and the phone company has to check up to the network box. They provide service with that-it's theirs to repair.

You also might ask them to send a newer DSL modem if necessary (they give you free UPS return at Qwest. Qwest modems are usually all over Craigslist, a few have wireless capability.

Don't expect Centurylink to be better. Qwest is now CL (as of April) and they are transistioning the identity. What you have now could well be better than tomorrow.
