I don't think I have seen a 1010 sell for more then $200 EVER used and that is totally mint and that was several years ago. Seems like $125 is average price for a decent one that just need deoxiting

I've had an eye out for a New Class A amp for some time, but not for that kind of money. Three grand for a receiver?! Dayam! For that, I could buy something exotic and high-end.

This is so true. It happens all the time, nostalgia getting in the way of performance. Folks that bought the SA-200 back in the day after visiting the dealer for months lusting for the 1000 while mowing lawns to buy the 200. Some Day, they say, Some Day. Well that day is today and there are a few people in competition for the limited number of TOTL top power receivers, keeping the prices much higher than much better sounding separate components.

But they are happy to have acquired the lump of their dreams.

The SA-1000 is not a New Class A model that I am aware of

That 200 is one of those receivers that actually could grow on you. Not a runt at all, not a monster, just a really attractive and capable receiver that sounds GREAT. It was worth every penny to repair.
