Re: The Audio Alchemy Digital Drive System II Don't work thr

Ok, can't find any more numbers, but i did take the CDP mechanism out and MAYBE someone had the tray screwed up, MAYBE. It all came aprt in my hands when I twisted this and that so don't know for sur but the CD platter(?) goes down to rest on the spindal drive now. I'll hook it back up and see. Also the micro switch that is supposed to close when the tray is all the way in lacks about .020 from making contact, another possibility.

There is a piece of white plastic broken off that evidently has to be there to spool up the spindle motor. I think its also responsible for the last 1/4" of tray positioning.

I bet your right! Looks like something has scratched the frame right where the plastic should be, like it was trying to connect properly.

Your going to have to find a part number on the spindle motor or something. I'm trying to figure out this chip puller.

How difficult can that be? Is it one of those you preheat and grab and pull?

I found this stuff to make it easy.

http://www.chipquikinc.com/index.htm

Dude I never did this kind of work. LOL Yea but how do you reinstall it. The chip is coming. I learn more and more of this stuff as I try to fix my own. I'm looking for a board in case. LOL

I may have asked the wrong question to begin with. Maybe it should have been " How hard can it get?" I haven't removed a lot of IC's either, but on this AA board they are soldered on one side only, so with my "EL CHEAPO" solder sucker should be a breeze.

From what I have read you can mess up the board pretty easy trying to get them out. You can cut all 120 of them the take the iron and tweezers and remove the legs one at a time. LOL

I've done a little on some Halliburton Flowmeters we run and they can be a pain.

Re: The Audio Alchemy Digital Drive System II Don't work thr

Well I ordered a chisel tip and the quick stuff. It said it would be good to use a wave tip; but at 75.00 or a tip I thing I will use the chisel. I spend all morning trying to find a Sony CDP that matches the gear to this thing. Put in a RCO for a board from the same people I'm getting the chip from. If this doesn't work I guess I'll learn to trouble shoot again. LOL

In one of your pics there was a board number under some wires. Any numbers on the motors. How about the control chip numbers?

HUH? One of the pics had numbers under some wires going to a plug on a board. You have to be able to see some board number.

Lee, I think he means page 1 of this thread, your 4th post, 2nd pic, on the far upper left hand corner. It says T8 (something) 250v under the wires. Or maybe he means on your 6th post that small board under the thingie that says Sanyo.
