Got it today. Tray comes out, won't go back in. When you manually push it in , it comes back out after a bit.

Now, this being the first CDP to ever go under the knife at casa Latish, this could take awhile. One would think a service manual is in order, I would too.

Your going to go in and find a part number to match who ever made the transport. It should be Sony. Then find a SM for a Sony CDP with the same transport. It took me a little bit of time but I did it. It also could just be out of adjustment.

Inside looks like any other 90's and newer BPC. Only audio component I've seen with 2 holes in the back, power in and digital out. Strange. JRC 4560 op-amps, can't be all bad then.

I now know why you are missing having a DC regulated power supply.

Did you try it to see what it is doing? Is there Sony written any where? You have no dacs. It is a transport only. You have lithium grease? Just see if it is binding. It may be going to far in and hitting a stop or switch telling it to eject. Lube the tracks and gears good. I know this probably is mindless stuff. Try ant thing and everything you can before going to deep. Yes the SM would be nice. That is why you need to find out what kind of transport it is. Look and see what the laser number is.

Larry, notice at the top of the thread, I KNOW NOTHING OF CDP"S< I AM HOPING SOMONE CAN TELL ME WHAT TO DO( no yelling, emphasis) Thank You. I will now try to make it do what i want it to, while observing all it's rebellious tricks.

Search the laser number and see what cdp it goes to. Then you should be able to find a transport sm for it.

Can you get me a board number the wires are covering up. That placard that says Sanyo isn't a good number. I'll search to see if I can find a SM.

Does the spindle motor spin? It may think there isn't a CD in there so it opens back up.
