intresting history...and I must say excellent craftsmanship on the WO board. So glad I stumbled upon it and joined this community....
My son has taken a liking to the 700...think he's got plans in his room for it...that maybe be a good reason to get him to clean his room...lol.
Lee or Joe, reasoning for the 400 schematic, had met a old DJ friend at the bar the other nite and we were talking of the days of DJing and I asked him if he kept his gear, he had a few PL400s.
Well he still has them but he has one that fried the pwr trans, so he save it for parts. I offered him 100 bucks for it but he just gave it to me...so I know its goin to be hard to find a tranny for it so I have Antek toroidals in my area. By the numbers I calculated need a 1.2kva 116vac centertap tranny to replace the burned out one...thoughts please...

Have you confirmed that the tranny is fried John and not just a blown rectifier? It is pretty hard to blow up a power transformer.

Didnt get the amp yet, hopefully tonite or tomorrow...but he was telling me he had continuity to the case from the line side...internal short..no fuses popped on the secondary side of the amp, he said he was jammin one night at the hall and the circuit breaker popped and the whole rack shut down. He was glad he kept a backup amp in the rack, he was back up in 10minutes....
