Couldn't disagree more. There were tons of deck advancements right up until about 1994 that produced platforms that showed long-term stamina and outstanding performance. But I appreciate one's opinion as to what constitutes their favorite/preferred vintage of decks based on personal preference. S'all good !
Sorry Blaze, but the heyday of the cassette deck era were in the 80's. A worldwide known fact. The best examples of the best cassette decks ever made were done during this decade: Teac Z SERIES, Nakamichi Dragon, CR 7, 1000 ZXL, ZX 9, Tandberg 3014 A, Revox B 215 S, NAD 6300 you named it. All models in my actual collection because I like to talk with "facts". Even the best from Sony, Yamaha, Pioneer,etc... Yes, I agree that you could find something good afterwards but
never matched the built and sonic quality of the 80's. This is not just my opinion.
It's a fact. Denon 790 R, ADS C-4 ??? The latest Sony's...pleaseeeeee! But I'll be interested to know about those "tons of deck advancements" in the 90's you mentioned! Please let me know those from 1990 to 1994...it would be interesting. Does any of it really surpassed those applied during the 80's? Dolby S perhaps??? Don't think so but I really want to know...
As you say, everyone has its own preference, but again, what's not up for discussion is that the "heyday" of the cassete deck era was in the 80's decade and you, my friend, who claim to "had my hands on plenty of decks since 1982" knows better...The only decade where the cassette tape surpassed any other recorded media was when? Yes, again, in the mid 80's...the 90's were the begining of the end for the cassette tape and/or any "serious" decks of course...but I don't know why we are even discussing this world wide known fact...ha!
And please note: let's talk about what the world of audio considers as the "absolutely best cassette decks ever made" not what you or me prefer. That's a never ending story...Ha!
