Mark,

Kevin is here and says....what do you want to do. He'll make a hell of a deal. Since you are rebuilding the 400 for him, you all can work something out. He says he'll ship whatever you want...I'll ship a PRO500 today if you want, or two PRO500's or a PRO500 and a DH-200, or a P-220, name it and you got it. jHe is trying to get $100.00 per 200 series, and $250 range for the PRO500's....I think the 200 ones may just need a BR. The PRO's I don't know. Why would they play at mid to high volume and one channel cut out at low volume?

Tell me what you want me to ship, and we'll work out the details. He just wants a PL 500 YESTERDAY...

I'll get the outputs ordered for that amp. I know you want Kevin to have the MJ21194G but I like the MJ21196G better, it has a higher Safe Operating Area (SOA). It is the only audio transistor that I know that can take 3A at 80V for 1 second. The MJ21194G can only take 2.7A at 80V for 1 second. Other than that they are the same, and cost less.

The MJ15024G for a driver is overkill (over-rated at 250V and 250W at 16A) and I like the sound of the RCA 410 better, but they are getting old. There are only 4 of them in each amp, so it's not that big of a deal.

Your thoughts before I place an order?

Someone posted on the FM Tuners forum: http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/FMtuners/post
that Xicon is Mouser's house brand and may be just about any low cost vendor, just repackaged/marketed for Mouser. I did not know that.

I'm not sure if that makes me feel good or bad... I think Xicon capacitors and metal film resistors are pretty good. I could not find any serious complaints in a Google search.

How many RCA-410's would you like?? I still have a coup[le hundred. Every one of those 17 heatinks I bought had a 2N5039 driver , and 9 410 outputs . I have a lot in the 85,86 date code.

The gain was the same for the MJ21194G and the MJ21196G. The ON SEMI datasheet lists hFE min 25 and max 75 for both of them. I don't know why a device with a higher Safe Operating Area would cost less, but I like it.

So should I change the outputs and drivers I have in my BOM at Mouser? I am still going to do the project. The Mouser order and the protect circuit is all I lack.....and a PL 400....I have everything else in hand. Joes boards, led's, o-scope...everything....just gotta get the donor PL hulk and the Mouser stuff....and a lesson in how to do it all..

How do you adjust the trace on a scope? Mine is kinda turned up on the left side????

There should be an adjustment screw called"rotation". That'll take the curve out of it. Does it have a test or calibrate terminal??

Suttpon the ouitputs I have listed above will not work for a 400, They are not even a TO-3, they are a t0-264-5

Oh yeah, I remember your pictures of the heatsinks, that amp will weigh over 100 lbs. You will have to recalibrate the VU meters, lest they spend all of their time on the right hand side.
