It belongs to a friend and it was sold as a fully gone through but.. barely anything was gone through! Also, it was dropped and has a bent frame behind the transformer, luckily nothing crazy damage to the front face.

Original reel motor wasn't running at a low voltage/current I like to see so I installed another one from a Kyocera. I also rebuilt the cam motor.. I typically check for less than 0.5V startup voltage and less than 10mA no load current from 0.5V to 6V, at 2V it should be somewhat difficult to stall it.

I have rebuilt 4 reel motors also successfully and 1 failure(immediately) so far..after more than a year of usage.

W&F is 0.04 to 0.06 Wrms. Pair matched all the Wiima caps.

Followed the detailed calibration process shown in the SM. I'm exhausted but the deck is done..

But what a beauty, nevertheless , I will stay away from the model. It sounds stunningly on all tape types.. other than the tape bump, I really can't tell the difference between source and the tape..

Is this the most computerized consumer Nak ? 1000ZXL is more of a pro unit.. I don't mind work hard for something like that...

May I ask a question? Not trying to be a smart ass either or get into any kind of a debate... Just wondering what the reason behind changing out what looks like to me are the small orange film caps? Were they bad? Did you put something in that is better? I just thought those pretty much never went bad. Looks like a fine job indeed.

I think the cam motor in my bx-300 is original and untouched. How screwed am I?
Keep using it and don't let it idle. If your machine is idler driven then you're a but on the safer side.. there are replacements available but you'll have to move the shield..

Orange caps go bad on most Naks. This one model is not really know that disease but I went ahead and used Wiima poly caps.. their top of the line ones. This will ensure that the caps will remain in spec for a long time.. I don't think caps matter as long as they're within a very tight tolerance for capacitance, esr, and a few other qualities.. (at least for audio band).

Yeah, I have used those Wiima capacitors in Kenwood C2 builds in the past and they seemed good to me. Thanks.
