Which Wharfdale? I'm not schooled enough.

Nice work Larry Bet they sound as good as they look,,,It,s been a year since I did my Imperial 7s and they sound better every day

It cost him 900.00 that was doubled the speaker prices. Yes he has been a good customer of mine. I made one house call a lead came off of one of the speakers. We went with Morels and a Dayton woofer. Then he had the cabs redone.

beautiful refurb. but what i dont get is why cram modern drivers into a nice vintage cabinet? i can see the pros of having modern sound comming from a old speaker, but it kinda breaks the spirt of vintage gear. still a nice job though. old warfdales can sound really amazing if tuned right.

I did what the customer wanted. They were his fathers. He really liked them after I finished them. Someone had been there before me and put a PA woofer in.

yeah the customer is always right, i guess.
one of my first jobs when i was 16 i worked at a speaker repair shop. did foaming, crossovers, etc. i got a neat clance to work with some very cool stuff. and i saw this kind of thing happen sometimes, sombody would bring in a very old pair of jensens or altecs, etc, and ask to have them modernized. we did it but it broke my hart to see such fine examples of classic speakers, molested and cut up. on the flip side though, the old drivers would usually get tossed, so i ended up with some really nice stuff

on your end, i can see why your consence didnt bother you, since they had already been replaced with some crummy PA speakers.

I just saw some fine condition Jensen model 6 speakers for $125 on CL. Looked a lot like these. Worth it?

Dingus I am a big fan of Morels. The Dayton woofer wasn't bad at all. Maybe it was the sand filled back that made a well rounded speaker. The guy I did them for is a very satisfied customer. At 1st I was going with the Vifa mid; but I could only get one and was on back order for awhile. So I went with the Morels. Was a really good second choice. I would build another pair.
