Maybe true, but at least he had the balls to say something about in a public place, I hope the folks who booed that soldier rot in hell :angryfire: , who the F*&k do they think THEY are? And the ones who stood there in silence as well!
 
That was contrived, no one in the audience booed any soldier, that was added. They booed his speech later and it was shifted to that spot. Dude, you've been had. Since Vietnam, the American public has taken a mass shame for how we treated the troops coming home. We were killing the harbinger not the peop[le responsible for sending them there. Those images of soldiers being spit on and harangued as they walked through the airports and whatnot ARE SEARED into everyones memory who saw them, knew it was wrong an d vowed the next ones would not be so treated. That's when we began to cherish America's finest again, Stu, If someone booed one of our soldiers, gay or not, black or not, etc, they were paid or put up to do it. It's been known for a LOOOOOONG time gays were in the military, even in Dad's time. We've come a long way Stu, the American public can respect a gay soldier even if they don't agree with their lifestyle. When one putsd their life in your hands and has your back it don't matter who they bed down with, just that they can do what they've proved they can again, and again, and again. My stepson, Levi, who did 3 tours as regular Marine, Force Recon 5th Marines, out of Camp Pendleton, and a fourth tour as a National Guardsman said it was a non-issue in combat. They got that far, that's all that mattered, never crossed anybody's mind that the guy that had your back might also be checking out your ass.
 
Well, I'm not so sure it was a set up for publicity, of course, it could have been, I don't pretend to know all the facts, if it was it's very sad. And I agree with you about the Vietnam comments, I remember that as a young boy.

But, I've yet to hear of any of the Republican canidates step up to the plate on ANY issues regarding gays in the military or any gay issues in a positive manner. They just want folks like us to go away, which I can tell you we are not. I find it humorous how many people are terrified of GLBT folks, but once they meet some and see we don't have 2 heads (bad pun :mrgreen: ) and we're not out to convert their children, they seem to be ok with us.

It's the canidates brainwashing the public and Fox Schooze media perpetuating hate and fear. If Obama has any part in it, shame on him!!
 
Dude your preaching to the wrong choir. We are those people who you are talking about. How much judgement do we pass onto you. We are the majority of the people in this country.We pass no judgement onto people. To be honest Dude we don't care about your preference. It isn't the biggest thing in our lives. Jobs, the Dollar,our homes and the debt to us is a little larger on our scale. I have one question for you. Which Pres. spent the most money on Aids research and prevention? Who gives to charities more than most people. I am conservative on alot of things. But it is I that gives to the charities.It is I who tries to help people no matter what. The I isn't just me.It is alot of people who don't need a cause in our life to live. To me this is a non-issue.Treat people how you want to be treated.

Well Larry, sweetiepie, I wasn't speaking to you or any other of my friends here in a dispareging way, just discussing what I read and my feelings on the matter. I rarely like to play the 'Gay' card, as I know most of the people I interact with are fine with it, but I get riled up on occasion and that booing made me pissed off, I have my moments too :flower:

The booing was a sleight of editing made to elicit that very reaction. The obams regime is very slick in the blatant disregard for any semblance of truth or respect for the intelligence of the American people. he is talking to the generation that turned out to protest in the 100's of thousands and one thing we learned, it don't change by what happens on the street, it happens at the ballot box. Another thing we learned, when a republics news media no longer reflects and reports facts, but inundates you with opinion and propaganda, suspect everything they report and dig for your own conclusions, DO NOT accept theirs as yours!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I recently asked my neighbors little girl what she wanted to be when she grows up. She said she wanted to be President. Both of her parents, liberal Democrats, were standing there, so I asked her, "If you were President what would be the first thing you would do?" She replied, "I'd give food and houses to all the homeless people." Her parents beamed with pride "Wow...what a worthy goal." I told he...r, "But you don't have to wait until you're President to do that!" You can come over to my house to mow the lawn, pull weeds, trim hedges, and I'll pay you $50. Then I'll take you over to where the homeless guy hangs out, and you can give him the $50 to use toward food and a new house. She thought that over for a few seconds, then she looked me straight in the eye and asked, "Why doesn't the homeless guy come over and do the work, and you can just pay him the $50?" I said, "Welcome to the Republican Party." Her parents still aren't speaking to me.

Thanks Craig,

Having spent a few years in The Services with those GIs, I had come to admire and respect their dedication and courage albeit all the BSs from home and it bothered me a great deal when I found out how they were treated once they landed back in The US. :(

By the way, I'm from Vietnam so I know. :)
 
I was also not impressed on how we treated the Montegards, Did I spell that right?? The whole war was a mess and not the US's finest hour, but true to form it was fixable. And the skirmishes since then were a better use of time, fortunes and lives if that last one can ever be thought of as any source of currency.
Vietnam utilized draftees, again not ideal as there were way too many deferments, the all volunteer force now once again shows people will lay down their lives so others don't have to. If there is any more selfless act, I've not seen or heard of it.
