Hi, this would be my third sale on Phoenix, and I appreciate the opportunity to list this here. This is from my own personal collection, and I almost hate to see it go but I have to make room. I bought a Marantz 2385 receiver in late 2022. It was advertised as recapped by a retired military technician, and I’ve seen the pictures of it and it is recapped, and it has the LED light kit upgrade for the meters and dial. Although I think the enclosure that holds the bulbs had to be repaired, but the LED lights look 100% as you can see in the pictures. There are a few marks on it but the face plate is clean, and the whole unit is very clean. Never abused since I own it, and I have a set of Klipsch Forte 1’s that I use with it, so half volume and it’s very loud. The problem was that the guy must not have been familiar with this type of receiver, and when he pulled the front panel off he never took pictures as to where the wires go on each input and output. So when it came to me it was messed up, no center imaging, some of the tape inputs didn’t work properly, so I shipped the too a well-known repair shop down near Philadelphia PA. They straightened most things out, and installed two sets of modern binding posts on the back instead of the clips, but there were a couple problems that remained. The balance slider in the front when you put it on the left speaker it goes to the right speaker and vice versa for the other side . The left and right input on the auxiliary in the back of the unit is reversed. The two phono inputs, and the two tape inputs and outputs are correct. The shop that I took to said it was indeed recapped, and they just didn’t have the time to straighten it out properly, and evidently they didn’t like working on this particular Marantz receiver. Not a big deal to me, I don’t touch the balance knob, and I just reversed the auxiliary left and right on the rear of the unit. Two other small problems, the 9 khz cut off switch is a little wonky, and sometimes it needs to be engaged and disengaged for one speaker to come back on. This doesn’t happen often, and I know that all it needs is a new switch. One other thing is the right channel peak indicator light randomly goes on and off, but of course I know the receiver is not clipping. Someone handy will be able to fix these problems, and I don’t think it is that big of a deal. I’ve been using it several times a week for nearly 2 years, and have listened to hundreds of hours of music through it, using all the inputs in the rear, although I don’t use the phono input very much as I have an outboard phono preamp. But I have used it before and it sounds excellent. This Marantz sounds really really good, it’s just those few problems that should be addressed. This is a deal for someone that can fix these couple problems, or use it like it is. I almost hate to see it go, but I have to make room for another receiver that I’m getting. Sorry for the generic photos, they were pulled off of the original ad on US audio Mart when I purchased it. You can see what I paid for it, and I think I gave the guy $3500+ shipping, plus I have another $700 in repairs in it, although those repairs didn’t work out exactly the way I wanted. I have listed a couple of items on Phoenix in the past couple of years, and I let them go reasonably so someone would get a deal. I feel this is a steal for someone because it’s actually usable just like it is, and someone that’s not that picky may never even fix it, but it is my daily driver. Always used with an exhaust fan pulling air out of the unit on the top, although anybody that knows these knows that they run cool, unlike some of the other monster receivers. I live in northeastern Pennsylvania, and shipping will probably not be cheap depending on where you live. Condition wise I would say very good + there’s a scratch or two here and there, as well as one on the face plate, everything is unnoticeable from 6 feet away. Not a junk unit, and you will not be disappointed with this, and anybody that knows this particular receiver knows that it has a lot of power, and they sound great. This particular one sounds very very good, and like the other items I sold on here, I sold them reasonable, and I want to give someone a chance to own a good receiver. If you’re handy this can be easily repaired, or it can be used as it is like I was doing. The pictures do not show the binding posts that I had put on there, but they will accept bare wire, spade lugs, or banana plugs. $1500 Firm and it is the receiver that’s my profile pic, thanks for looking, John
