Shoot out

Hugh I'm sorry to disappoint you. The Onix had to have the Perpetual Technology gear hooked up to it to perform as well. Saying that I wonder if my system is holding them back. I am not that smart about digital. I am an infant where it is concerned. I know it can only read at what the disc was made at. The Shanling I can hook up w/o a preamp. It has a variable output just like volume.

When I am trying to pick out my gear. I don't nitpick it to death. The 1st couple of seconds I am listening for overall likeability. I make sure it is a CD I have listened to for a few hours or days. LOL I may leave the same CD in the deck for a week if I like it. This CD was in the garage for 2 weeks of listening. I'm lazy. LOL I just turn on the CD and go if I am working. Nothing in my sound room is permanent. It is going to the living room. Nothing is optimally placed for the sound stage.

The Onix did not win. In the garage it sounded great over the Praasound.

No we don't.

I'm not sure who distributes Shanling in The US these days.
Music Hall used to carry them.

Hugh, we're not that anal about a guy hawking his wares in open posts, if ya got some good stuff post some links or pics. We love to drool over nice gear.

We only carry Melody and our own Trinity speakers.

Hugh- Larry was looking for a 300B, that should give him food for thought!!

Very impressive A/V room there Hugh---NICE!!

Thank YOU L. :)

The AN300B is a very special piece since it is part of Melody AN series which is a step up from the normal products line.

A few review for food for thought.

Gold plated, that should help in the synergy department, doesn't gold go with everything?

Judging by the item's location, I think the Pope has begun culling his collection of hi-fi equipment.

LOL You think? Things aren't so good over there. May try the Parasound hooked up to the PT gear. This is sounding so sweet though. This PT gear will not leave my grubby hands. I would pass them around. I'm scared they would get damaged in shipping and I don't know if I can find anymore. Gotta love when a plan comes together.

Don't you just love music? I know I have some Chicago. Talking Heads wouldn't be bad either. Yes, Rick Wakeman. All do some pretty good tunes. Just the kinda mood I'm in.

Just put the tubed Grant Fidelity in the loop. May sound good to someone. Not as fast note wise nor does it have high end as the others. Sounds good ; but not as good as the other 2. I expected it though. May roll the tubes. Think it takes a 12AU7 maybe. Will look. Here are the GF and the Shanling. I think the GF was 500.00 new. The Shanling was 1999.00 Pretty good prices. Just isn't there though. Nothing special doesn't make my ears perk up. About to try the Shanling hooked to the PT gear. See what happens.

just put the Shanling on the PT gear. Cruisin down the the inevitable path that I must walk down. LOL Been a long time since I have sat in the sound room and cruise. Use to fall asleep in here listening with the AKGs groovin. Lee Ritenour 6 String Theory. Very good CD. The dude can play some guitar that is for sure. I'm so happy I tamed the Vandy's tweeters. This is some good stuff. I think if I'm right. He is an Aussie right? If so he recorded his 1st CD in the states about 2 years a go. In Nashville. Got the toe tappin head bobbing. Not even 1/4 volume. The Shanling came with white cotton gloves to mess with the tubes. I do use them. If not them then something else. You will not see me touch a tube with my hand. The money they cost they should come with little extras. Now don't get me wrong. It sounds very good. I did roll the tubes on the Shanling.

And not only that it's a gorgeous piece of gear Larrt!!

You did see the pics Hugh posted didn't you?????????????????????????????????????

I have a California Audio Labs Delta transport, it sure doesn't look like that. And didn't anywhere near that.

Jim

Here is a pictures of a California Audio Labs Delta and a Paradesea DAC, these are the sellers pics from when I bought them. The transports are built like battleships.

There is also an HD version of the Delta. The Paradeseas see a lot of modifications being done, upgraded transformers and changing out the caps and such as well as rolling the tube.
