WassupYa Mang?
It's been a few hours of listening and evaluating, and this is one nice sounding combination. Using the Sui as a preamp and in the DC mode, I have a 1000 WOPL driving the CV's and a 500 on the Polks. Gotta say, it sounds fantastic. Nice phono section too!

I bet that sounds awesome. Man, I want a WOPL1000 so freaking bad. I would find some D9s for the 1000 and use the E-712's with the 500. The Perreaux preamp is godly. The NAD is pretty nice also but I don't see it ever in my main system. For a garage system, it would be pretty sick. I have the Carver CT-24 out there now and though I hate the fucking thing because it incorporates a tuner, it really is a quiet preamp with a nice phono stage

Tonight I put the WOPL 500 FC I just built on it, with DC coupling. .. dang fuse holder, but it's fine for now til I get the round tuit to fix it.

Rush.. YYZ?? Yep, NICE full rounded sound man... I'm STOKED.

The Sansui AU-517 is a great piece, Jerry. It seems many members are getting good results from using different preamplifiers. You won't know until you try it.

Nando.

I would settle for the 517 as the integrated it is...it's a fine MOSHEEN.

PS Jer, you've got a screw loose there...

It is a beautiful amp. I think you made the right choice Jer, you got a killer preamp AND a killer amp in one package. Dual purpose versatile

It's really showing it's strength to be a great combination. Seems to have very good depth and (not sure what to call it.. ).. timbre? Overall very satisfied - it rocks! :toothy10:

ps.. Yes Steven, for quite some time... LOL.

Are you telling us it colors well and in the lines?

If you aren't actually using the amplifier, it's all in your WOPL.

Well, when I was in college and making $9-10 in beer can refunds after dances, I was taught that the preamp is supposed to be as neutral as you can get. The tone controls are in between the preamp and the amp.

How does the Sansui sound as a integrated amp? This is supposed to be a pretty good series and the tuners were awfully nice as well. I consider the x17 model as about the last step before the end of the classic Sansuis (the G and Z models maybe the end).

I have a spare AU-717 that I could use as a pre too. Haven't got around to it yet.

One of these days it will end up in the F/S forum.

Fucker sounds good, so that's good nuff for me. Bonus is she doesn't have a scratch I can see.

It's synergy... when one finds it, one knows... I found it LOL..:smilebox:
