Ir seems that lately I’ve been given “impossible to fix” components, one of which is a SAE TWO PA10 preamp for which I can’t find any documentation. My tiny little mind seems to think there’s a bad voltage regulator feeding the control circuitry, but a service manual would go a looong way to confirm my suspicion. Does anyone have experience with these or a source for manuals?

I had a bad voltage regulator in my Pioneer receiver. But I had a manual… google and dig. If it’s not of Hi-Fi engine.

Jim’s SAE site was a source but it hasn’t been active for years, unfortunately. Used to be able to get some manuals for an spca donationor something.

Did you contact Wardsweb to see if he has anything on your unit?

Wardsweb has it listed as a device that does exist, but no documents.
It's not on HiFi engine. They have the P101 and P102 service manuals. Don't know if the internals are similar.
Those are the “computer direct” preamps, completely different animals.

but he states the list is ancient and needs updating so maybe you could get lucky if there was a manual for that unit and he somehow got a copy. But it isn't from the great gear era from SAE and he might not have searched for one.

No service manual , divide and conquer !
Disconnect PSU from the 2 boards ( load ) and check .
IMHO I think there's a short and PSU is in protection mode .
Probably a cap on PSU or on the load .
Ciao
