Russ' Phase Linear 700B Going Fully Comp!!!!!!!

I've got a 3300 scattered all over the bench right now. When I get it back together I'll get er checked out...

Just got done with the 700 on the bench using my analog scope and old eico sig gen. I had puttered around scraping rosin and general cleanup. I'm now showing a symmetrical clip at 64 volts out, both loaded and driven. Beautiful sinewave throughout. It's now going back on the AP. Something is a foot...

Parts just arrived late today so I will be making some headway over the weekend.

Glad to hear you are getting sine waves Lee. I don't think you will be able to spare us the snow. We are in the zone this year.

I have to get this PL4000 buttoned back up and the bench clear. Got the part numbers recorded for the connector sets which I will probably order and replace. They seem to have 15 microinch gold plated versions which should help. The old tarnished and corroded tin ones have bare copper showing through in several areas. Very suspicious that is where the problem lies in this old beast. It will be a labor of love to replace all those connectors. There are 19 connector pairs of the 10P width and 3 connector pairs of the 6P width in this beast.

do you like it that much? And if so, why?

2 reasons Lee

  1. It is a great looking preamp (has too much junk circuitry inside however)
  2. I can't stand having audio equipment taking up space without it being working and useful

Well then you would go absolutely bugf^%$ at my place....

And reason 3

It will take me longer to fix my C-2a than I have time for right now and I need a lab preamp :-) That pre is pristine so I have to take care with the covers etc so that I leave it that way.

Thats progress. Got a normal FR curve finally. I'll post it here in a few....
