I wondered if such a thing was possible, now I see people building them. A helicopter works by the variable pitch of the blades, a fan pushes air- why not combine the two to make a subwoofer? Interesting project!

I learned everything I need to know about a Hammond/Leslie combo from Robyn Robins at a Bob Seger/Silver Bullet Band show in 1975 at Memorial Auditorium. They hit town not long after the release of Beautiful Loser. Those organ notes shoved my chest in and all I wanted was MORE!!

I'd be curious to know how well this design works.

Although this is a great curiosity to me, it looks like it’s prone to mechanical failure. Despite cabinet resonances and wave cancellation at certain frequencies, I think the best way to go is with the standard configuration with a huge cone facing the floor.
