Wow I'm glad someone likes Chet Atkins. I have "neck and neck" which is a Mark Knopfler/Chet Atlins album. It's a treat.

Maybe not like But can respect.

One thing though I can't spell.

I'm terrible at spelling. I usually double check but I'm usually using my phone to post.

I had so much rock guitar pounding me in the 80's, new and old- loved it then. So many talented people I don't give time to anymore. My taste has changed a lot since then and I don't want to listen to limited dynamic range music anymore, except for on occasion, which is most rock. Chet was more recent for me. My favorite guitarist is a local guy who won't make any list. Harvey Reid. If you like acoustic, try to get a copy of Sketchbook.

I had country music drilled into my head when I was growing. So many Elvis LPs. Wonder who got them. I listen to different music. I'll try anything once. I do know very quickly if I like it. LOL I like Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs a great deal. I like Jr. The guy that did the perfect country and western song. The other that did Copperhead Road.

If you just listen to the ones you don't know on the list. You will learn more music. There are some true artist. I forgot Van Halen and AC-DC guy. Man my mind is sleeping. LOL

I will start naming some of the ones I have picked up. Fast this was a good idea. I have went back and listened to some. If you have a music sever you don't have to pay big bucks and you can find just about anybody that is brought up. I'm there in a minute unless I'm just listening to a list just stream for hours. Thanks Jer for opening my eyes buddy.

I haven,t listened to any Blues or R&R for a long time on Sat and Sun I listene to Classical,,,I have music on at work but because I,m busy I don,t really have time to Listen ,,,my choices as based on memory and groups and Individuals whos Music is recognized in the first 10 seconds,,,I don,t think there can be a Number 1 so my list would start 2 thru 11,,,notice I made no mention of Classical Guitar players as I feel the only one that Really Belongs is Andreas Segovia,,,I guarantee every great Guitar Player would Give major Props to him as being a major influence on their Styles,,,,Strange no Mention of Hendrix

So Angus Young from AC/DC will be added to the list? BB King is one of my favourite blues guitarists. His "Live At The Apollo" is a great album. I have a mix tape of that album, and I played it incessantly while I was dating Geri. The flip side of the mix tape has the Tragically Hip recorded on it.

Nando.

Oh Angus can do 8 notes pretty good. LOL Top 10 to me no but he does get a mention. Eddy Van Halen when he wants can play. They both were at a certain time good in their own way. I don't think they have passed the test of time. I think some have progressed their style over the long haul and are still evolving. To me I won't put Hendrix on the list. I'll put it on there if someone wants. I still haven't put some I think were good or are still good getting better.

I,d like to add,, Queens ,Brian May to the List,,,also Rolling Stones ,Keith Richards,, to our list

HEAR! HEAR!

Brian May is one of the best guitarists ever and Queen IS Queen because his playing adds to and expands Freddie Mercury to his very best. He still doesn't receive enough credit, even though a lot of us revere his playing.

I just hit the CDP this morning. Jeff Beck can kick some serious butt. Think I will put the jumpers back on the 12.2s and listen for awhile. Playing Some Where Over a Rainbow. He can make it talk that is for sure.

Ok, I'll throw an oddball out there ... Even if the dude is a egomaniacal bassid, his style is definitely easily recognizable and deserves at least an honorable mention.

Yngwie Malmsteen

There is a Cd where he plays acoustic. He can play that is for sure.I just can never spell his name. LOL
I own a few of his Cds. I'm always looking for that certain one; but I like his others. He is good.

I thought Steve Vai taught Satriani how to play, anyone? I also think it was Zappa who led Vai to be better.

Also, I have 6 Leo Kottke albums. Very unusual player IMO, at least not the same ol stuff. He's with John Fahey as another sort of American Primitivist.

On a different note, Hendrix was great. Someone mentioned the guy from queen, he was awesome and a big inspiration to Metallicas guitarist.

Oh and I like Slash lol.

When did Vai start playing? I have been listening to Satriani a long time. I have some of both.
Larry
PS I will list you suggestions
