Does any one read it any more? Well I guess they did the 100 best guitarist and some other mags took offense for the people that were picked. There was one picked that is always picked and I have never owned any of his music ever. I have been to the pawn shop that his 1st guitar was bought at. Just never cared for his music. In the other mag there were a few picked that I own and have listened to. There were some that I heard as a kid. Roy Clark was mentioned. He could play that was fore sure. I didn't like his music but he could play. What say you

They left out a lot of Rock/ blues players from today. RS is a rag to me any more. I think Charo should be on the list. That woman could play.

I'll have to look, but I am not rally familiar with Guitar players just for guitar work. When I listen to music it is the whole package and not just one instrument that I am listening for. :cyclops:

Yes but it seems drummers don't live long. If you want some well rounded music. John Mayer Trio. All 3 are needed to work. Some very good musicians. Have you ever met any studio players. I knew a drummer and guitarist. Very good but they sit in the studio. The drummer auditioned for Ozzy. It was great to listen to them jam. They were good enough that practice was just sitting there jamming to the group they were going to work with next. No reading music. Doing it all by ear. Just pure talent; but playing for hours a day.

Yep, but I am not much on drum or guitar solos. A little here or a little there is ok, but when they get int their own little worlds I kind of lose interest. I like to here many instruments and preferably some vocals somewhere in the track.

You're absolutely right, Larry and kick me for having forgotten.

Charo was kick-ass in so many ways. Wonderful lady.

There aren't but a few women on the Rolling Stones' Top 100 Guitarists list. Nancy Wilson should have also placed on that list in the rock genre. As far as jazz guitarists, Gabor Szabo is an excellent guitarist, too. I included a track of Gabor Szabo on the mix tape I recorded for Joe.

We need our own top 10 guitar Players list and once we agree we should do a travelling tape
And that's an idea well worth pursuing. I like it, Robert!

If we kept it strictly to rock and blues, my pick is Mark Knopfler.

How old? There are a few out there to pick from. Ted puts on a great show. But doesn't come up as top 10 for me. There are some people forget. Randy Bachman, Ritchie Blackmore, Cheap Tricks lead guitarist. Jeff Beck is number 1 or 2 on my list. His boxset goes back to the late 50s.

To me there is one criteria. You have to be diverse and good. You have to be able to play a box as well as an electric and if you can jam on a mandolin that just takes you up a notch. Malmstein did both on one CD. I can't find him playing the acoustic. He was Ritchies protege. He can jam. Some people cheat by doing pull aways instead of placing their fingers every note. I did play the drums a while. Tried a guitar; but my fingers were to short made it very difficult. Guess I will try Knopler again and see.

Lets remember that the Guitar players we choose for the list should have created a style that makes them recgognizable,,or changed music in some way or another we can certainlly nominate more than 10 ,,so start a list we can add to then work down to a top 10,,,,,with that I,ll suggest Jeff Beck,,,and Robbie Kreiger from the doors and also Chuck Berry after all he invented Rock and Roll
