Bad news The Bellari is so quiet I could here a pin drop.

Good news Your electricity is messed up. That when you get it fixed. You will think you have a new system. LOL

Not surprised. The problem was intermittent and apparently junk power supplies have a way of revealing themselves, especially if AC is compromised. I suspect that could be the case, and I'll likely learn more about what's going on with the power in my house as time progresses.

Since I'm working on the Snell EII at the moment, I put the CIV's back in place to listen too. These speakers have a tendency to be balanced from bottom to top, evenly balanced, but tilted upward as frequency increases. What this means is that the tweeter control is totally useless IMHO, because the mid sounds tilted upward too. This is where the Sovtek 5751 helps. Being dead sounding on the EII's, it sounds much better on these CIV's. This is still the VP130, with the upgraded power supply. The Sovtek 12AXLPS went bad and has been left out for sometime. I don't miss it at the moment. But I do miss the warm, fat sounding less revealing and relaxing sound of the EII's.

John told me to put a bank of resistors so instead of 47 or 48 kohms . Put that as your lowest. The middle is 100 and go up from there. Then use a jumper to pick the resistor that sounds the best. He gave me the link for them. It is like 5.00 w/o the resistors. We have already done a few emails. I will try to find it.

With the 440mla, it's actually the other way around. 47k is the starting point for like every phono pre. The 440 needs a step back using a divider method which I believe would work using Y connectors and the right resistor value. Beats cracking it open IMHO

Well then put the 47k in the middle. Why lower? I just started reading about this. From the jest of the things I have read is some of todays MM can be very nice. You can find some high output MCs that you can use a MM phonostage.

We might be talking about nearly the same thing. Lowering the resistance a hair below 47k for the AT440mla might help balance the cart which can sound a bit tipped up but not extreme really. This is one way to change things, without alteration of the equipment itself. I've been meaning to attempt this, I likely will soon - look:

I will venture to other carts more likely when I have a new table and an arm that is fully adjustable.

that's like us arguing which output/driver pairs are the best, except you guys have wayyyyyyy more combinations to try.

Rolled the Tung Sol in. Tubes are weird how things will change. The Tung Sol isn't as defined. Ran out of volume at 3/4. Captain I'm giving her all she has. Just can't do any more. LOL

Can't see the pic.

the Tung sol sounded weak in the beginning. I guess it's what you use it with? VP130.
Still my old tests confirm the LPS as a winner. I'd like to try a gold lion.
