OK Tom, Lee, Joe, Jerry or any one else I forgot. Here we go. Resistors add noise to an audio circuit. The sellers even say it. I try not to put them in my X-overs at all. I went digging. When I have questions I usually do. From what I have read. They do make a difference. So now the 10.00 question is. Do going with Mills make a difference?

Lee and Joe. If I changed all the resistors in my PL to Mills would it sound better and work better? I know it would cost more. LOL I know from building X-overs that caps make a difference. Doesn't everything make a difference?

Yep, whether they're audible or not is the question.
Maybe it is there minds; but I was reading reviews And they said they made a difference.

We could do a before and after on the PL. Did you get your cables yesterday?

Yes I did!! I forgot i orderedthat many, just kept pulling them out of the box. I'll get a resistor list made up for your amp board, now on the stock PL 14A/B board there is gonna be a difference since most of those were carbon comp. On Joe's board they are Xicon metal film and known as low noise.

Both metal film and wirewounds are suitable for low noise applications but metal film are easier to make with low inductance and are my preference for non power circuits. Use non-inductive wirewound in power circuits. Most noise in resistors is temperature noise (as in absolute temperature) so good derating in the application is important from a design perspective. I frankly could not tell the difference between quality metal film or wirewound as there are so many other more significant sources of noise than the resistors in preamps and amps, the power supply noise being one of the chief components followed by crosstalk, front end high gain amplifier transistors, etc. Using nice quality resistors is definitely a "feel good" for me though and it does no harm. Mills makes excellent power resistors, not sure about what they make in the low wattage ranges.

Well I have been in contact with the guys at sonicap about a price break. They are on vacation. I know Danny uses them in his X-overs. Really I want the best in this preamp. I never want to buy another pre or want one. Joe would they make a difference in the X-amp?

I have been up ordering and trying to find resistors since 5. Oh what fun. Did every thing I could at Digi-key. Some at Mouser. It is a pain shopping for what I want.
