Record Player buying advice needed.

Cory, I don''t know why I think you are still in school. I remember you telling me you were working now that ya mention it. No Cory, not hiring, taking all we can do to keep the people we have working.

Lee,
Oh ok. Have you been doing very much Phase Linear repair work? What do you think of the PL 200 amps? I am looking into getting one from a guy if the price is right, he is an older guy that has tons of old tube amps, like a lot of Harmon Kardon, Scott, sansui.

He never tried to sell it on eBay pictured sitting in a patch of dirt and gravel I hope :)

Doesn't Perry/WOPL Sniffer still have one?

Yep, I'll be around Saturday.. the only vinyl I have left are 4 albums and those I want to keep.

Do I have to worry about cogging or and thing with the 1210 mk2 model?

Does the Luxman work?

No, a 1210 is just the black version of the SL-1200mk2

$650 is a good price if it has no issues (anything on a 1200 series is easy to fix and tons of aftermarket parts), my mk2 holds speed rock solid, there is no "dancing". If I sold my 1200mk2, I would want $800 but buyer would also get a DJ flight case for it and a extra dustcover. There is a reason these are some of the most highly regarded TT's ever made

I like Thorens to, had a shit load of them but my fave was a TD-320mkII. Wish I never sold it but the Technics 1200mk2 is just as good if not better, especially for reliability plus you don't have to mess with a belt. I have never been a fan of belt drives compared to DD's

Damn, Cory, you not only get to meet one of the finest couple of people on the planet, get some nice free turntables...You get to sit in the F'n chair dude!!!

I am soooo freakin' jealous!

Go to needle doctor in MN's website for new stylus's or a new cart, many of us can help you get set up. Search craigslist in your area for Lps, buy a nice record brush system and cleaner.

The only TT I like with a belt drive is the old Rek O Kut with the 14 lb platter. I will have one of those some day when I have some time to mess with it. Until then the SL1200's do just fine.

So as far as the 3 rows on the platter go, when a record is spinning, what should I be looking for exactly?

One stands still instead of going forward or backwards.
