Hi all,

Most vintage audio enthusiasts have an appreciation of Realistic products. I loved paging through those Radio Shack catalogues featuring their products, especially, the complete system set-ups in different price ranges from least expensive to the most expensive.

Realistic Mach One speakers were one such product that was an extremely good value for your hard-earned dollar. I bought my pair going back seven or eight years ago, and recently sold them last year. Before I sold them, I demoed them along with a few other components I was selling at the same time. Here are pictures and videos of that demo session. I was using my Pioneer SA-9500II integrated amplifier to power them, which I also sold.

Some have referred to the Mach Ones as a poor man's Altecs.

Never owned Realistic stereo gear.
Wanted to. Mom was against have that stuff in the living room. Dad was not into stereo gear either. So that pretty much left me with nothing but my Sony TC200 RTR to listen to.
There was one clock radio in their bedroom and that was used strictly as a alarm clock to go to work. I did not have a memorable childhood.:angry5:
Never had cable either:angry2: Parents never could figure out why I was always in trouble!

I had a set of the A's many many years ago. Killer speakers. Had a pair of the Mach II's also (no horn across the top), no comparison. HHopefully this year I will come across a cherry clean pair on the cheap. Thanks for posting this Nando!

I spent 3 days in jail for a pair of these (disturbing the peace charge in Fonda, NY). I was too cheap to pay the fine and was sentenced to a week and got out in 3 LOL

Hmmm you were too cheap to pay the fine and they were too cheap to feed you for 7 days...sounds like a win-win!

I see you've never had jail food Joe. They didn't save anything by kicking him out. They don't spend anything on y anyway..

@ Robert: I have had a number of older Realistic speakers and receivers throughout the years. Some I have sold, some I have traded in, a few pieces I've kept. I will post a few pictures of what I have had, and what I still own. Not even cable? My parents, too. But, my dad had a huge VHF UHF antennae on the roof for pulling in TV stations in the 70's. We had a better selection than those who did have cable next door. And my dad was into SW radio, and still is.

@ Ron: Playing a stereo loud is a violation? There's got to be more to that story - like repeated warnings? Shoulder-length hair? Smell of pot in the room? I like your moxy. If Realistic only knew how to advertise that would have made a good TV ad, wouldn't it?

It was at 1 in the morning and the neighbor's blew me in. The town court judge was a cool but a tyrant at the same time. I was surprised also believe me, the SHeriff's just came and took me in for violating the noise ordinance, no warning, nothing. That is when a lot of my original record collection was stolen by a "friend" who was staying with me while I was in rthe clink. This was about 1983
