RCA Tube Tuner

That same "tuning eye" is used in my Eico cap checker.....

I think it is mono, but that may not be a bad thing. My (now defunct) Grundig radio probablly had the same eye tube - still have the tube.

I couldn't tell if there was another RCA plug under/behind the power cord. Looked mono to me but could be wrong.

Found it! Definitely mono, 1960. Not as rare as he thinks. Has it listed for $100 somewhere else, listed at auction on another site w/no bids. Magic Eye tubes are expensive, have replaced a couple.

Still cool looking.

It's in the top 3 hits, not like it's hard to find.

ST-4, MI-12115, the tube is going to be 6E5 or 6U5 probably (6ME5/5ME5 is a miniature eye tube used in Japanese gear in the late 50s but it's hard to find.

Which is why IIIIII got one for my AM/FM/SW Pioneer.

Go look at it, see if tubes are missing or at least marked on the chassis. Chances are 143% good you will probably have to recap it. A nice looking later console/mantle type unit.

Am I wrong to think it was styled to look like an REL tuner? Naughty, naughty, RCA.
