Preamp levels versus Amp input attenuation

If you keep low level AC away from hi level AC your hum will be less. The designers of vintage preamps would use AC in the tube heaters and the hum would be nil. As you increase power output you increase everything that is in the signal. I have a center tapped 60-0-60 feed to my system and it reduced all the 60 and 120 HZ noise.
