I'm of the same mind as Nando. Take it over to Facebook. This is the VERY reason I don't look at Facebook any longer, it's all political. Kill off the thread. Makes no difference to me.
It kills me to think how people will say/write/post things, that they'd never say to anyone's face in polite society.
And they will pitch you stuff based on whatever you say. After 20+ years online I've learned that I don't have to join every site I see, and I limit where I go to what I need to find. I don't care if there is an end of the internet, I stay in town.

The only real reason to visit FB is to see if Tim has announced why Yesfans is down.

I am not sure an audio forum is the appropriate place discuss one's political views. With that being said, free speech and free thinking are important elements to a civilized society in my opinion and I am not the biggest fan of censorship.

The amount of political rhetoric that seems to infiltrate every thread has kept me from being as active here as I was in the past and would prefer to see folks here have a dedicated place to voice their ideas, opinions and woes. I come here for fun, not to be at odds with my Phoenix family.

Maybe a dedicated sub- forum in The Cave could be a place for those of you that want to discuss the "finer" points of of politics.

I'd rather not entertain any replacement for it, as that's exactly where and what it was (a subforum off of the cave). As "admin", I have no choice in the matter of whether or not I see what is being posted - I can't just turn off my own access to it.

I have entertained the idea of a whole "other" forum along the lines of what AK did to separate themselves, but again... As "demonstrated" even I as an admin and as a co-founder of this forum am human, subjected to weaknesses to not take it to the personal level. Way too easy for me, and I do apologize for going there with a few members of this forum. It's a very personal subject in this household... and I'll leave it at that. It's "gone", and will stay that way.

AK tried a completely separate forum for Political chat not attached to AK at all, I think it only has 3-4 users now (literally a ghost town). I would rather keep friends then lose them over a difference of political opinion

When it started affecting me is when I figured it was getting bad, I'm a live and let live guy, one of the most laid back people I know....was tired of the poison leeching in here...and losing good, posting members is not what we re trying to do here.

Having a broad membership is fundamental to different ideas and approaches to solving our audio problems....let's do that.

BTW, I can't even talk politics with my younger sister anymore, we are wayyyyyyy to far apart on that. Used to be the same way with my older sister until about a year before she died, at which time she was starting to question some of her long held liberal leanings. It wasn't long drawn out arguments that did it either...just a realization on her part that the world was getting strange and less respectful. She spent 32 years teaching high school chemistry and biology, took several students to the national science fair, she was an excellent teacher and a severe critic of sub standard parenting. She dedicated her life to teaching kids to think for themselves, bless her heart, and she did well.
One of the turning points for her was hearing how much the government was in my business and seeing it getting worse as time went on....not to mention how much the school system was being "administrated" to something that she would have recoiled at when she started.

This is an out front post to everyone I've pissed off with my rants, and yeah, they were rants...I'm a very passionate man, I say what I feel unfiltered, just how I am!

And Jer, I'm sorry! I don't retract what I said, I just never meant to obviously pull your strings. You are obviously as passionate as I am, I respect that!

We've known each other for many years, I Love ya dude :love7:!! I'm sad to see the sub forum go, but, respect the outcome...

Trust me, my friends, you will hear how I feel on issues at various times...I'm so freakin' proud of this country and where it is going, Peace, brothers and sisters, Craig
