I've had the movements apart too and it could be either too loose (The jewel pivots), or too tight, or a public hair could have invaded. Just be careful but I have changed out movements too. Usually they are sealed pretty good (as long as the piece of tape is over the adjustment hole has not been compromised), so the movements should not be dirty. There are also some needle stops which could be set incorrectly
