I'm very curious about any tech item
Till now I have used short banana plugs ,
since long banana plugs are not "suitable" , because shorts could occur .
What kind of connectors do you use ?
Thank you and ciao
Marco

Marco, I have always used the "expandable" type banana plugs. You twist to the right and the middle prong moves forward expanding the two banana sections....

I've heard, first hand, that you can over tighten the expandables and crack the receptacle. Have you ever experianced?

Nope, never had that happen. It would have to be a pretty cheesy receptacle....

Thank you , Lee .
Please can you give me
a reference for this kind of banana plug .
There is an another solution , that I have used in my father's PL 400 :
the dual short banana plugs .
I think it's a good solution , but now there's only one suppller in Hong Kong .
If I remember well it was a very popular solution in the ' 70s
What do you think about this connection system ?
I want to use the safest connections .
Ciao
Marco

Sometimes I wonder about those Nakamichi plugs and jacks since the internet seems to have LOTS of them for sale. Prices are all over the place.

I do remember reading an article a year or so ago that talked about the MASS of the plug or jack affecting the performance of the system. If I remember correctly the less mass of the connection device, the better. Unrelated to speaker jacks, I do know that a slim interconnect will work on my Acurus preamp and the fat ones just don't have enough clearance to fit their jack spacing.

Nothing beats bananas for convience!! Long term though... I think I'm going with spades. Seems like you want the maximum jack to connector contact for the best connection. You'll read about the surface area connection between the 2 parts and how there can be variability in that surface area with SOME banana plugs.

Thank you guys !
On Sunday there will be an electronic exhhibition near Milan and so
I will search for good connectors .

P.S: Nakamichi was only an example .

Marco, I get mine at the local radio shack. Solder the speaker cable to it and voila!!

I have those on the analyzer , but would not put them on an amp, they just won't stay tight...

I have those on the amp. With the original 40+ year old posts, they did not inspire 100% confidence but do fit tighter in the new posts grapplesaw installed. There are definately better.

Anyway ,
it'must be said that if you want a perfect contact with short banana plugs ( single or dual )
it's necessary to loosen completely the banana sockets fitted on PL and Dynaco .
I was sure that I would have received many different answers .
Good thing to learn something new .
Thank you again guys .
Ciao
Marco
