PL400 4-fin outputs (MJ21196G)

I'd like to change the outputs on my amp to the MJ21196G's, since they are currently all original. The amp is still the factory quasi-complimentary design.
I've read conflicting stories. Some say to keep the original drivers, and some say to replace everything with the MJ21196G's. Do they have to be gain matched?

I'm not quite ready to do the WO backplane board, but I thought it would be a good idea to replace the outputs with the better more modern designed components.

Keep the original drivers..DONOT use the 96's in the driver position. The drivers are lightly loaded and rarely fail.

Skip the mess and get Silpads. If you are going to upgrade it later, you'll save a big clean up.

I thought of that too, but I've read that Silpads aren't as good (thermal conductivity) as Mica/compound. I do agree they are easier to use. Of course there are many factors in how good something conducts thermally. Surface finish of both parts is a big one. Torque of the hold-down fasteners is another.
I've heard that the Bergquist Kapton insulators are better than the "Silpad" variety, but are more expensive. I've never used them personally though.

EVERYBODY here uses SilPads. White Oak Audio carries them, They are better than the whale spooge any day.
