How many of you own Pioneer "silver" cassette decks?

How many of you who don't own one would be more apt to hunt one down if you knew you could also purchase a brand new replacement motor for the ever elusive and often in need of refurbishment RW/FF take up motor (RXM-047)?

Just wondering...

PS. It's quite ok with me if this post strays into other issues and areas of interest pertaining to these decks.

Hi Dolby. I will answer you in a bit. I have been going over it in my mind. So I will get back to you. I'm still dwelling on it.

PS How is everything going. How is your Aunt.

Hi Dolby,
Regardless of if one needs a motor for the Pioneer- I have several silvers to deal with later on, or any other deck that will at some time or another need a capstan motor, it would be good to do research on where to gain these items as they will be the death of cassettes if they are not found and they are not easily made out in the field.
Let us know if you have any secrets- I have been searching for items but so far have only come upon servo motors in the price range of $100 and up which would have to mounted in by modification and probably with an external power supply.

Hey Sam,

No secrets here. I'm turning over every stone I can. If I find something, I'll definitely share.

Your comment on a mod is an interesting one. It may come down to there not being any other choice (or might have already).

All I have are CT-F500 x3 and a CT-F615 and then a 2121 in pieces as well as an SK-350 boombox. How does that affect me?

(I know I can go to their site)

Apparently not one iota.

Hi
What is so different on these motors?
Larry

The most common outcomes, from what I've read, are that even if a replacement motor fits, sans modification, in the same spot and has the same voltage rating, rpm's run either significantly slower or faster than desired and/or it has too much or too little torque, resulting in the same (or worse) conditions, including the most common problem of the take up reel stopping and shutting off play mode in a few seconds to several minutes. I have yet to read that someone actually found and implemented a successful drop-in substitute. I keep looking.

That's the key question.
