Robert, your PL-518 looks great after all these years. Pairing it up with the Pioneer SX-850 is a natural. It's like you had planned it all along. To get you going you could check out a thrift store for a vintage stereo component rack. I have a nice Toshiba, which is about 4' high, with smoked glass front, five shelves and a record storage at the bottom. It holds my Pioneer components in my downstairs bedroom.

Thanks, its looks pretty nice once it was all cleaned up..... Usually CL has a zillion stereo shelves to give away or cheap but nothing except junk for several weeks. However, there is a nice Pioneer RT-701 reel recorder, but as usual on the opposite side of the cities. It's just like the famous 707 except no auto reverse. Would go nice with the TT and receiver..........

Will likely just built some shelves as I have a growing pile of ash, oak, and maple in the basement.

A Pioneer RT-701 or 707 would be a fabulous choice for an open reel deck. Keep that silver theme going, Robert. I use my RT-707 regularly. It was recently serviced, so it should be trouble-free for awhile.

Hi Nando,

Lee has it right on the photos, they always look so tempting. Nice looking deck your 707, love those meters! Hopefully the 701 will stick around until the weekend so I can get over to the other side of the city. All this Pioneer stuff must be the start of some sort of nasty bug!

These posts are so funny, we talk about TT's in the tape threads and tape decks in the TT threads. Good thing Larry joins in the free-for-all or he would kick us all off! Ha, I think we should nominate Stuwee as monitor..... +1 for Stuwee!

Just as long as we know what we are talking about is all that matters. LOL I have to get time and do a tune up on my 707. If I would quit soldering the wrong end of the tone arm pins I would Have one project done. LOL

Robert, Lee: thanks for the comments. I'll be sure to continue posting pictures: there are plenty left to contribute.

Yah, the jumping from mixed topics can be dizzying. My youngest son is an avid skate boarder. He does the same thing on his board. I like to call it free-styling. That's what happens when you lump together a bunch of creative minds into one forum.

Hopefully, we can get this boat headed in the starboard direction before Robert gets back. If we manage to get it back full circle before then I would be surprised. Who's handling the tiller handle?
