I don't have a Pioneer RT-2044 open-reel deck, but I thought this was just too good to pass up in the eventuality I buy one. I am keeping it hush-hush for the time being, but such a deck is a possibility once I save up enough cash to commit to the kind offer. The seller of this item was quite cordial and even mailed the head block assembly before I had e-transferred him the funds. It's almost too good to be true, especially since it's never been used, so I'm going to reserve my excitement until it arrives.

Nando, I would buy them all day at that price!! Helluva a deal ....

Wow, Nando, that's just a killer deal.

That's not bad at all indeed!

But the real killer deal would be to purchase the RT-999.....

Amen Robert...

Miles, is that the real deal or are you being creative again?

Would be nice if Pioneer had come out with the RT-999.

Someone was supposed to have dropped by to buy the head block from the seller, but when he didn't show that day, and the seller received my e-mail, he replied "...it's yours."

That and some other photoshopped images of what Pioneers and other brands' lines could have looked like if they had continued 'vintage' values have floated around the internet for a few years, I don't recall the source but I think TH and probably AK have seen them posted as well.

Cool!

That's correct Steven. But still... They're cool images.

It's a quaint looking Akai, isn't it?

I received the head unit on Monday. It isn't a 4-channel head unit, but I'm more than happy to have the 2-channel head unit, instead, as it would be the one I would be using most. The seller had been a Pioneer franchisee and he knows I'm on the hunt for more vintage Pioneer parts and accessories.

Somebody on TH has a 2022, it's in their ID.

Steven: There are a few owners of the Pioneer RT-2022/44. Most of them I know. For me, it's one of the ultimate vintage open-reel decks.

Lee: I'm not sure what an NOS head unit would go for, but $75 is more than a bargain.

Nanado, out of curiosity, what's that guy's name or the business's? Wondering if we may have crossed paths since I went to nearly every dealer show from about 1979 to 2010.

Gary: He lives in Nanaimo, but I cam PM his name to you.
